i've seen the sun rise
the sun set
the tides rush in
and filter out

i've seen the full bloom of spring
and the emptiness of winter
the hottest beaches
and the coldest mountains

i've felt the warmth wrapped around
when you held me in your arms
and the void left
when you departed from my world

and what i realize now
is that no matter what happens
whoever comes or whoever goes
nothing changes me

i am still that same girl
you fell in love with
through a digital world
across the bar in cali
on that cold night in florida
or even on that fateful meeting
in high school, fresh out of class

i am still going to be that girl
who gives her all to the one who gives it back
who shares with her friends
because that's what she does naturally

so even if you lead me on, or hurt me one time,
most likely i'd forgive u in time
if you stay in my life with good grace, i will be there
unmovable, forgiving, ray of hope in the dirty, corrupt world

and i won't change. i can't change. bc this is what i choose.
no matter how cynical i get, how skeptic i can be, this is my truth.
